Listening to Girls Talk

Zoi R., 13 years old Chicago, Illinois

I feel strong about myself because, I have confidence. I believe in myself and what I can accomplish. I don’t let what people say bring me down. I keep my head up high and live my life like its GOLDEN. I like the way I am and I am not going to let crazy people bring me down. I just try not to let people get up under my skin. I feel good about myself because, I don’t like to down myself because, it is just not healthy. I don’t like to think bad things about myself because, it brings your whole mood down. The way you treat yourself and dislike yourself rubs off on the people around you.  When you stop believing in yourself everyone else does too. When you don’t down yourself, everyone else won’t.

As a girl going through adolescents I feel that are many issues that we face. This is why we have to stay strong. We also have to have confidence in ourselves.

I am very tall, and I was insecure and had no confidence at all. I got teased and I was like ok they will stop and I just let it go. Then it kept getting worse and worse and I just couldn’t take it anymore. I was going to blow. I didn’t… I am actually glad that I didn’t blow because I would just be stooping to their level and I didn’t want to do that. Instead I stood up for myself and the teasing stopped. So think before you do, it would make you the better person but importantly it would make you feel good.

What makes me strong is my courage and confidence. You need that to survive in this world. Girls all over the world have different stories of what makes them strong and the qualities they need for then to be strong. You got to read about one today.
